The Observation Deck: Ask A Question (Open Thread)

Ask a Question

Ask a question?  OK!  Open thread time!

I’ve been having a pretty rough week as weeks go.  So I really could use some happiness!  So, what makes you happy?  Post your answers in the comments!

  1. Planning out the meal and logistics (getting candles, wine, etc) for having friends over to dinner tomorrow night makes me happy.

  2. Doing creative writing activities with elementary-aged kids makes me happy. They’re so funny, uninhibited, and absolutely poetic without meaning to be. And it’s a joyful thing to watch them learn that they have something to say, the tools to say it, and the right to be heard.

  3. Becky, yours is so much more noble than mine 😉 Sounds awesome, I want to do that too!

  4. So many things make me happy, though at the moment: French Macarons from Bennison’s Bakery, wine tastings, and Lady Gaga (yes, it’s true).

  5. Here are 3 current things off the top of my head. Sorry the first one is so cheesy.
    1) Feeling my son kicking around inside me (He’s too little for it to be uncomfortable yet, for which I’m grateful!)
    2) Reading books aloud with my grandma over Skype (and the fact that my 87-year-old grandma uses Skype and Facebook and sends me text messages)
    3) Having my brother here to visit us and just hanging out with him (and eating the fabulous omelets he makes me for brunch)

  6. Having one of my students grab the wastebasket after I said “the first solid food I had the last 48 hours was at lunch.” Just funny and thoughtful that they care enough to not let me puke on my floor. (I’ve been monstrously sick the past few days) 😛

  7. Emily, I am so with you on those two things!

My current joys are rediscovering songs I loved in elementary and junior high school and had forgotten about (thanks YouTube!) and checking items off of my to-do list 🙂
